Cameron Brown makes it 8 at New Zealand Ironman
Balance sponsored athlete and now 8-time New Zealand Ironman Champion Cameron Brown set a new race record at the 2009 Bonita New Zealand Ironman in Taupo on Saturday.
Joined by hundreds of athletes over the weekend, Brown raced to glory in record time of 8:18:05, beating out debutante Terenzo Bozzone for the title.Fortunately the prevailing high winds and stormy conditions of the 2 days before the race subsided leaving the athletes with only overcast and drizzly conditions at race start.
Cameron is the only athlete in the world to win a single Ironman event 8 times - a true world champion.
